Afterlife: What's it like?*

Observation from the Light Field

Over many decades I’ve been privileged to interact

with many spirit beings who reside in the light field—

what you and I might call the “afterlife,”

or what many people might call heaven.

These beings of light have appeared to me for various reasons—

frequently to use me as a medium, to be their voice

to someone on earth with whom they wanted to communicate.

Through my intimate communication with these spirit beings,

many aspects of the afterlife—

the realm that serves as their beyond-human residence—

were revealed to me.

I now feel moved to share with you one aspect

of this unique phenomenon called afterlife—

one that I believe these precious beings want me to tell you about.

It’s about the nature of the afterlife,

about what happens to us—perhaps, better said, what doesn’t happen

to us—

once we leave our human form.

Our human stories, mental beliefs and moral values, I discovered,

are nowhere to be found in this world of higher consciousness.

What these pure light beings showed me, directly and indirectly, is that

not one of them adheres or even relates to any of the valued beliefs

that motivated or influenced their earlier human time on earth.

Concepts or experiences of ‘reward’ and ‘punishment,’ for example,

while dynamically an alive-and-well ingredient within our human mind set,

are simply non-existent in the afterlife.

No matter how flawed, abusive or imperfect

any of these light beings had been while in their human bodies,

none of them was in any way experiencing even the hint of

punitive consequences—or negative karma, if you will—

in their post-human presences.

In short, once we die and leave humanness behind,

all aspects of our earlier humanness immediately disappear.

Not just our bodies which, as we know, we abandon!

But also our mind sets, beliefs, values and human individuality.

That abandonment includes our moral beliefs in—or experience of—

good and evil, right and wrong, justice and injustice,

guilt and shame, reward and punishment.

They all simply cease to exist

as we enter anew into our post-death, light-filled consciousness,

as we return to our natural, pre-human form—

that of light.

How curious! What’s with that? I wondered—

and you might be pondering the same question.

At first, the very idea that there are no consequences

in the afterlife for prior terrible human behavior felt, well, wrong—

or at least highly unfair. How could that be? Really!

Then, over time, I came to realize the bigger truth:

The moral concept of good and evil, right and wrong, or reward and punishment

is, as you know, a really big deal here on earth,

one that has become a central motivator for our human behavior.

But it is nothing more than that: a motivating human concept.

It’s not a divine concept, not a spiritual one, not a quantum one,

not a multi-dimensional one, not a beyond-human one.

Once we’re finished with our human experience,

we immediately awaken into a quite different reality—

one of light rather than matter, of unity rather than duality,

of being-ness rather than moral evaluation

and of interconnected harmony rather than dualistic conflict.

We’re simply done with earth’s well-intended values,

moral principles, 'good vs. evil’ beliefs,

and, more specifically, any ideas about reward and punishment.

What’s this newly discovered fact got to do with you and me?

Well, here’s my hunch. I’ll even call it my vision.

First, let’s glance at a quantum vision:

In our quantum consciousness, you and I don’t really exist.

Our ‘quantum non-self’ is perfectly content in its self-contained nothingness.

Thus, no notion of duality or morality at all.

Second, let’s consider the spiritual vision:

Our ‘spiritual self,’ or ‘being of light’ self,

is perfectly content in its self-contained light nature.

Again, no hint of any morality-based evaluation of anything.

And, for a third perspective, let’s re-visit the human vision:

Our ‘human self’ is not perfectly content in its self-contained human skin.

We humans simply don’t feel whole and complete as humans.

We’re swimming in a terrestrial field of apparent duality and separation.

As a result, we’re home-sick. Yes, home-sick.

We’re hungry for our spiritual and quantum nature,

and so, we are on a perennial path, a soulful quest

to re-gain our quantum and spiritual nature.

To support ourselves on this well-intended hunt,

we’ve invented morality-filled stories about being unworthy (etc.),

thus requiring ourselves to prove our worthiness—

by being good rather than bad, loving rather than mean, etc.

And, of course, we fearfully prod ourselves to be ‘positive’

by declaring potential punishment or banishment in the afterlife

should we wind up being more in the ‘negative’ camp.

In short, our prized moral values are a meaningful story—

but a strictly human story, one that has nothing to do with the afterlife.

They’re simply our human way of managing our primal impulses

and attempting to help our species to function effectively.

The implication, or ‘take-away,’ for us just might be this:

As we digest this higher vision into the inner folds of our awareness,

we can actually let go of our morally compelling belief

in the story of reward and

punishment—

not to mention good and evil, right and wrong, and the like—

and we can move beyond its fear-generating effects in our lives.

What do we replace these beliefs with? you may be wondering.

Well, rather than being driven by these limiting beliefs,

we can (a) open ourselves simply to our inner most truth,

the truth that lives smack dab in the middle of our souls;

then (b) embrace its soul-sourced invitations;

and, finally, (c) live our lives according to its wisdom-filled prescriptions.

Not because it’s the morally right (vs. wrong) thing to do,

but because it’s the inspired and soulful thing to do.

Indeed, we can actually live our own version of the afterlife

right here and now, while we’re living and walking in our human skin.

To do so, we need simply only embrace our ‘light nature’

which lives dynamically within each of us,

usually in the form of our soul.

We can allow our light’s (our soul’s) wisdom

to inspire our human thoughts, decisions and activities.

Thus, we can experience a guilt-free, fear-less,

freedom-filled experience of ourselves and our human life.

Indeed, this mighty option of living such a “heaven on earth” existence

is very possible. In fact, it may even be your spiritual calling.

Welcome to your very own version of the afterlife!
